Project and Commissioning Engineer Role Summary


At ABB Schweiz AG, we are seeking a skilled Project and Commissioning Engineer to execute project and commissioning activities efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.


Main Responsibilities



  • Technical Contribution:
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.
  • Provides technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepares project documentation within one's scope of deliverables.

Contract Management:



  • Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.).
  • Provides quality solutions as per customer requirements and delivers within budget and contract.
  • Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.

Risk and Opportunity:



  • Supports in conducting risk and opportunity assessments during commissioning phase and in handling technical risks by following mitigation guidelines.
  • Identifies potential hazards and reports to Site management.

Customer:



  • Assists customers on technical issues, interacts with official contacts, contractors, and other staff within his/her scope of deliverables.
  • Assists communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings interact with customer on request.

Supply Chain Management:



  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers.

Processes and Tools:



  • Uses standard processes and procedures to ensure all commissioning activities comply with the required safety regulations and satisfy contractual requirements.
  • Reports processes and tools inefficiencies and suggests improvements ideas.

Planning and Control:



  • Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.
  • Your background: Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Energy, Computer Science) or High school technical diploma (Electronics or telecommunication) with at least 1 year of experience in automation software configuration in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the information technology, experience and comfort using Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, experience and comfort using some of the most popular Office programs, such as those used to create word, excel (formulas & pivot).
  • Basic knowledge of process automation: sensor & control elements system/subsystem, experience and comfort on various approach to control engineering strategies using & understanding the necessary input (e.g., P&ID, signal list, functional control diagram).
  • Basic knowledge of Human Machine: comfort in the understanding of graphic Interfaces that represent the control system such design from P&ID.
  • Electrical knowledge is a plus: reading, understanding and implementing (if needed) modification in control cabinet functional schemes.
  • Ability to organize and work in team.
  • Time-management, good knowledge of English and Italian (both written and spoken).
  • Availability to travel domestically and abroad up to 30% of time during commissioning phases.
