Position OverviewThis role is designated for a Senior Safety Systems Engineer, tasked with facilitating the Functional Safety lifecycle for mechatronic innovations. Collaboration with fellow Dana Functional Safety Experts across diverse teams is essential to ensure uniformity in achieving the functional safety standards of Dana's mechatronic offerings.
Key Responsibilities and Challenges
This position will be instrumental in executing the Functional Safety lifecycle for mechatronic projects:
- Engage with other Dana Functional Safety Experts to ensure consistent outcomes regarding the functional safety of mechatronic products.
- Contribute actively to the strategy and implementation of the functional safety lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineers and external partners, including Functional Safety consultants, involved in program and project initiatives.
- Generate all necessary documentation and deliverables, which may include:
- Safety Verification and Validation activities
- Problem resolution tracking and feedback to stakeholders
Support the strategic implementation of the functional safety lifecycle.
Work alongside engineers and external stakeholders to produce essential documentation, including:
- Safety Plans
- Safety Manuals
- Safety Concepts
- ASIL ratings and decompositions
- Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
- Safety Requirements
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) & Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Safety Verification and Validation activities
- Confirmation measures
- Safety Cases
Lead the problem resolution and tracking process, providing updates to key stakeholders as necessary.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional Experience:
- Over 5 years of progressive experience in vehicle system architectures and control systems.
- A minimum of 2 years in a similar role focusing on functional safety in automotive products.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, EN 13849, ISO 26262, and related frameworks.
- Strong understanding of ISO 26262 and practical experience applying its principles.
- Experience with safety concepts, hazard analysis, risk assessment, FMEA, and FTA at both system and sub-system levels.
- Proficient in systems engineering principles with a multidisciplinary approach.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
- Experience in functional safety for automotive applications, particularly in powertrain and electric vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of requirements engineering and Automotive A-Spice.
- Familiarity with requirement management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, or Integrity.
