Job Description

Reports Specialist - Briefing and Research Expert

FAO is seeking a highly skilled Reports Specialist to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research and briefing, with excellent writing and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct in-depth research and analysis on various topics related to FAO's Programme of Work.
  2. Develop high-quality briefing materials, including reports, speaking points, and background documents, for senior officials and other stakeholders.
  3. Collaborate with the Briefs Unit to plan, schedule, and submit briefing materials under tight deadlines.
  4. Take primary responsibility for content related to specific geographic and thematic areas, as assigned by the team.
  5. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Briefs OnLine (BOL) system and related workflows.
  6. Develop content and BOL system guidelines and provide support and training to users.
Requirements
  1. University degree in international relations, political science, social sciences, humanities, law, economics, agriculture, or other relevant fields.
  2. Three years of experience in programme/project management, operations, administration, and development-related work in an international organizational setting.
  3. Working knowledge of English.
Desirable Skills
  1. Experience in using and supporting web-based content management applications.
  2. Knowledge of FAO's mandate, policies, programmes, priorities, and structure.
  3. Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, or Russian.
FAO Core Competencies

Technical/Functional Skills

  1. Work experience in more than one location or area of work.
  2. Familiarity with Briefs OnLine (BOL) system.

Selection Criteria

  1. Excellent English drafting and editorial skills.
  2. Advanced experience in designing, planning, and preparing technical/policy briefs, reports, speaking points, and background documents.
  3. Experience in collecting, analyzing, and re-presenting complex concepts and treating sensitive topics for high-level audiences.
  4. Sound experience in using and supporting the tailoring of web-based content management applications.
  5. Work experience with United Nations or other development agencies.
