Role Overview

At Uni Systems, we are committed to turning digital visions into reality.

We are continuously growing and seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our UniQue Ispra team.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with our customers in the public sector and be responsible for developing new business by identifying profitable opportunities, maintaining a client portfolio, and monitoring project progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect business requirements and develop advanced data collection solutions, focusing on data related to key sectors, including food sectors with existing or under-development PEFCRs.
  • Produce data models according to specific problem statements, with a focus on LCA and EF datasets.
  • Identify, collect, convert, and update different data types/sets in various locations and life cycle inventory databases.
  • Support the development and testing of data for dedicated web-based tools for environmental footprint calculation, particularly toxicity and ecotoxicity impacts.
  • Assess the quality of available datasets, including actions to improve data quality for existing LCA datasets, as necessary for the EU EPLCA and LCDN.
  • Write documentation associated with tasks and liaise with other project teams as needed to address cross-project interdependencies.

Requirements

To succeed in this position, you need:

  • Knowledge in trends/anomalies detection in life cycle datasets, focusing on data related to LCA of food products compliant with the EF/ILCD schemes.
  • Knowledge in data analytics, particularly related to analysis of LCI and impact assessment datasets in use with main LCA software (e.g. OpenLCA, SimaPro, or Gabi).
  • Knowledge of chemical assessment models and methods (e.g. USETOX).
  • Good knowledge on developing datasets for analysis/modelling tools and techniques, particularly related to life cycle analysis software and tools for impact assessment.
  • Ability to efficiently and fast identify, collect, convert, and update different data types/sets in various locations and life cycle inventory databases, related to data from different sectors relevant for the EF method.
  • Ability to efficiently and fast test and update data related to different impact assessment methods, particularly those related to toxicity and ecotoxicity impacts.
  • Good knowledge on European Institution tools and software for LCA/EF (as included in the EPLCA, in particular data validation tools) and data formats for life cycle data.
  • Ability to give business and technical presentations.
  • Capability to cope with fast-changing technologies used in data modelling and analysis.
  • Very good communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to write clear and structured technical documents in English.
