Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Earth Observation Systems Engineer to join our team at the European Space Agency - ESA. As an EO Data Management Specialist, you will play a key role in defining and managing the implementation of innovative operational solutions to optimize and harmonize the definition and structure of Copernicus Sentinel data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of operational products and Level 0/Level 1 data processors for future Copernicus missions.
  • Provide expertise on Copernicus EO data and advanced analytics.
  • Support the preparation of operations for future Copernicus missions and manage related activities.
  • Interact with the Copernicus Space Segment teams from the early phases of the Copernicus Expansion and Next Generation Space Segment activities.
  • Lead initiatives to define, procure, and manage implementation activities aimed at optimizing the handling of Sentinel data in cloud-based environments.
  • Manage the maintenance and evolution of operational data processors for the first-generation Sentinel mission.
  • Support the definition of necessary evolutions of the CSC operational framework architecture.
  • Support the development of an ecosystem of Copernicus or DestinE data management and modeling services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant domain.
  • Experience in EO data analytics, data engineering, and data format standards.
  • Knowledge of software development in cloud-based environments and demonstrated experience of Python development.
  • Sound knowledge of the Copernicus program and related EO initiatives.
  • Strong innovation and problem-solving skills.
  • Result Orientation, Operational Efficiency, Fostering Cooperation, Relationship Management, Continuous Improvement, Forward Thinking.
