Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our team at Ennismore in Florence, Italy. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing the hotel's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management
    • Prepare and post daily revenues and banking documents.
    • Reconcile, review and submit quarterly and or monthly VAT.
    • Review all payments and submit for bank load and approval.
    • Complete bank reconciliations.
    • Reconcile PAYE payments to payroll software and ensure HRMC portal managed.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable
    • Manage the hotel's accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Internal Audits and Compliance
    • Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies and regulations.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Payroll and Cash Flow Management
    • Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations.
    • Assist in the preparation for external audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Internal Controls
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the hotel's assets.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Individuals with a strong background in accounting and finance.
    • Passion for hospitality and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Someone with a hands-on, outgoing, pro-active approach; taking personal responsibility and initiative to prevent or resolve problems.
    • A balance between a methodical and process-driven approach and flexibility and creativity when it comes to meeting deadlines and finding solutions.
  • Experience
    • Previous experience in hotels is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Previous experience in income audit or accounts payable.
    • Understanding of the basic accounting functions.
  • Skills
    • Ability to analyse P&L statements.
    • Ability to apply timeliness and accuracy in recording and reporting.
