Key Responsibilities
The Senior Actuary will lead the Actuarial department, ensuring that appropriate methodologies are used for computing technical reserves and providing independent opinions on key technical topics and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Guaranteeing that appropriate methodologies are used for computing technical reserves
- Ensuring the quality of data used to compute technical reserves
- Providing an independent opinion on the level of technical reserves, as compared to best estimates
- Providing an independent opinion on key underwriting topics
- Providing an opinion on reinsurance policy and reinsurance processes
Dimensions of Roles
The Actuarial Function Holder will have numerous regular interactions with various stakeholders, including:
- Chief Finance Officer and Finance teams (IPA finance team, reserving center of excellence): opinion on reserves
- Head of Technical Excellence and Technical Excellence teams: opinion on technical processes (underwriting & reinsurance)
Additionally, the Actuarial Function Holder will:
- Provide independent opinions on all key technical topics to the IPA SA Executive Committee and Board of Directors
- Guarantee to the IPA SA management and to the Board of Directors that appropriate methodologies are used for computing technical reserves
- Ensure compliance with Banque Nationale of Belgium and AXA Group actuarial guidelines, compliance requirements, and internal audit follow-up in relation to underwriting, reserving, data usage (GDPR), and profitability metrics
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified actuary or similar education profile with demonstrated significant insurance technical experience in the insurance industry (10+ years): knowledge of reserving, pricing, valuation, and Solvency 2 metrics
- Proven leadership
- Knowledge of insurance (ideally assistance) products and markets
- Knowledge of actuarial, macro-economic, financial, and risk-management matters
- Understanding of coding skills in R & VBA, SAS/WPS, and Python (appreciated)
Language
Fluent English is mandatory.
