NHOA S.A., a leading global player in energy storage and e-mobility, is seeking a Senior Power System Engineer to join its Grid Integration office in the Engineering department. The successful candidate will contribute to the execution of electrical power system studies, ensuring the reliability and performance needs of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power System Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power system design, analysis, and modeling, with expertise in control schemes and grid integration. The role will involve performing independent analyses, conducting control modeling and simulation studies, and communicating effectively with clients and technical sales teams.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform steady-state and dynamic performance analyses of NHOA's energy storage systems using industrial power system simulation software;
  • Conduct grid studies to integrate NHOA's BESS and other demand/supply sources, identifying system impact and required remedies;
  • Communicate findings clearly and concisely, working cross-functionally with customers, engineering, business development, and deployment personnel;
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in Automation or Electrical engineering, preferably with a PhD in Power System Control;
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in this field, with a minimum 1-year experience in industrial/power system consultancy projects;
  • Expert knowledge of at least two power system modeling tools, including PSCAD/EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT, and PSS/E;
  • Direct experience in modeling large and small power grids, with a deep understanding of Grid Code performance requirements;
  • Strong expertise on control schemes of synchronous generator and inverter-based resources, including familiarity with grid forming operation;
  • Experience in conducting interconnection and engineering studies like stability analysis, harmonic analysis, and protection coordination is preferred;
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language: Fortran, Python, C, or C++;
  • Strong working knowledge of control theory, including small signal analyses and optimal control;
  • Solid Simulink and scripting skills;
  • English fluency (Italian would be appreciated).

We estimate the salary for this position to be around €90,000 - €120,000 per year, depending on the location and qualifications.
