About the Role

Hitachi Zosen Inova AG is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Discipline Group Leader to join our team in Milano. As a key member of our Mechanical Equipment & Packages team, you will be responsible for leading a diverse group of engineers and technicians in various tasks within the mechanical discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with discipline leaders in other locations to ensure a cohesive and standardized approach across the organization.
  • Contribute to defining and implementing the department's strategy.
  • Lead a team in various tasks within the mechanical discipline.
  • Provide technical and disciplinary leadership to staff, including training and resource optimization.
  • Ensure effective communication with staff and supervisors.
  • Cross-check and approve technical documentation within the discipline.
  • Support project execution and tendering within the mechanical discipline.
  • Ensure timely ordering and delivery of systems and components within budgetary constraints.
  • Track budgeted hours and cost with team members and take necessary actions.
  • Ensure quality of engineering deliverables in the mechanical discipline.
  • Plan resource allocation for employees in the group.
  • Manage the selection and hiring process, in coordination with the Global discipline leader.
  • Develop individual employee development plans and career paths.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the department.
  • Develop guidelines and specifications for the mechanical discipline.
  • Establish internal guidelines and directives for the group.
  • Collaborate on standardization efforts within the product responsibility scope and implement them within the area of responsibility.
  • Assume responsibility for the quality of work within the group.
  • Adhere to and implement relevant HSE requirements.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree in mechanical engineering or technical diploma.
  • More than 4 years of extensive experience in the role of Mechanical Discipline Group Leader.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Proven track record of executing projects, with a strong focus on plant engineering.
  • Skilled in motivating and leading employees within their area of responsibility.
  • Able to leverage their experience to shape their sphere of influence and gain buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of evaluating multiple operational solution paths and making informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in employing sophisticated methodologies to tackle complex problems and successfully implement solutions.
  • Takes decisions independently and in a timely manner within pre-determined limits.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experienced in using project management tools.
  • Good cost awareness.
  • Systematic and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
