We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Expert in Metallurgy and Lubrication to join our Global Laboratory Organization in Italy. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical expertise and support in the areas of materials technology, quality assurance, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:- Define, plan, and follow up metallurgical and chemical investigation activities according to agreed targets and timeframe related to bearing applications.
- Analyze test and investigation results, write and supervise technical reports, draw conclusions, and propose improvement actions in accordance with applicable standards.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures and instructions for efficient use of test equipment and facilities to ensure reliability, accuracy, and traceability of results.
- Collaborate with various departments to support the coordination of activities and enhance the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
- Propose and develop new analysis procedures according to internal and international standards and specifications.
- Actively participate in local and global improvement projects related to products, service, efficiency, and organization.
- Coach and develop the local team on technical topics and support colleagues in training activities.
- Degree in Material Science, Chemistry, or Materials Engineering.
- A minimum of five years' experience in the fields of Metallurgy, Metallography, Heat Treatment for Steel, and Lubricants.
- Experience of failure analysis in the field of steel and/or lubricants, including material properties and their performance in different applications.
- Knowledge of materials science, materials structure and microstructure, mechanical and thermal properties, materials processing and fracture mechanisms, metal forming processes and technologies.
- Knowledge of laboratory instruments (e.g. stereomicroscopy, light optical microscopy, microhardness tester, X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscope, Infrared Spectrometer).
- Extensive knowledge of steel making, heat treatment, surface treatments (e.g. induction hardening) and forming operations; knowledge and experience about bearing steel, bearings products and applications will be considered as meritorious.
- Familiarity with national and international standards related to metallurgical processes.
- Experience with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and statistical data processing.
- Proficiency in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
