FAO is seeking a highly skilled Statistician to join our team in the Economic and Social Statistics (ESS) Division. The successful candidate will play a key role in the compilation and analysis of food and agricultural statistics, with a focus on price statistics and indexes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze price statistics and indexes for agricultural commodities and food products.
- Develop and maintain specialized tools, methodologies, and systems for the production of price statistics.
- Provide technical assistance to countries in the compilation and dissemination of price statistics.
- Collaborate with the FAO Price Statistics working group to improve efficiency and harmonization.
Requirements:
- Advanced university degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, agricultural economics, or a related field.
- Five years of relevant experience in the compilation and analysis of food and agricultural statistics.
- Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of another FAO official language.

Technical/Functional Skills:
- Strong command of statistical methods, including data presentation, analysis, and descriptive statistics.

Working Conditions:
- Extension of fixed-term appointments is based on certification of performance and availability of funds.
- FAO reserves the right not to make an appointment.
