Pharmacy Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Intern to join our team at Giant Eagle. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy team and contributing to the safe and efficient dispensing of patient medication.

• Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels by submitting online orders, adding and adjusting order points, and performing on-hand counts.
• Ensure a neat and clean work environment by adhering to company and government requirements.
• File written prescriptions daily and assist team members with tasks to ensure department efficiency.
• Review service and business metrics and assist the team in developing action plans to improve outcomes.
• Perform regular duties of a Pharmacy Technician and welcome patients at all pharmacy entry points with compassion and a smile.
• Model excellent patient care by respecting, engaging, and enthusiastically meeting or exceeding patient needs.
• Finalize sales using a cash register according to established procedures and follow all quality assurance policies and procedures.
• Comply with all Giant Eagle and Pharmacy policies, including HIPAA and pseudoephedrine regulations.
• Enter patient personal data and insurance information, as well as prescription information, including calculations and medication specifications.
• Ensure proper documentation for transmitting information to insurance companies and reviewing profiles for billing choices.
• Alert pharmacists for drug utilization reviews, resolving third-party rejections, and rebilling claims.
• Process medical expense reports and assist in the execution of company initiatives and programs.

• 0-6 months of experience in a pharmacy setting.
• High school degree or equivalent and current enrollment in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program.
• Active in-state Pharmacy Intern License.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
