Choir Director Opportunity

The Choir Director at Lexington United Methodist Church is a part-time position responsible for leading the Chancel Choir in worship services and special events. Key duties include:

Conducting and Rehearsing the Chancel Choir

Lead the adult volunteer choir in rehearsals and performances, ensuring high-quality music ministry.

Coordinating Special Music

Work with the organist, pastor, and other stakeholders to plan and select music for Sunday worship services and special events, such as the Christmas cantata and Easter Sunday.

Planning and Preparation

Develop and implement plans for the Chancel choir's yearly Christmas cantata and other special services, including hiring extra musicians as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of the liturgical seasons and ability to select music relevant to those seasons.
  • Motivational and positive leadership skills to attract and retain volunteer choir members.
  • Proficiency in singing, bells, organ, and piano.
  • A strong and active relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for ministering through music.

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
