CAE Helicopter Simulator Technician Role

We are seeking a skilled Helicopter Simulator Technician to join our team at CAE. As a Helicopter Simulator Technician, you will be responsible for identifying, finding, and solving problems in complex flight simulation systems. Your tasks will include checking updates and bug fixes at subsystem level with the test engineer/pilot, supporting the integration of data, updates, software, and hardware, and exchanging various assemblies.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to work with the most advanced aviation simulators in the world. As a Helicopter Simulator Technician, you will be part of a small team based in Sesto Calende, working on a wide range of simulator systems and equipment. You will have the chance to develop your technical knowledge and skills, and contribute to the development of our simulators.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Identify, find, and solve problems in complex flight simulation systems
  • Check updates and bug fixes at subsystem level with the test engineer/pilot
  • Support the integration of data, updates, software, and hardware and exchange of various assemblies
  • Calibrate instruments
  • Switch systems on and off, including function testing
  • Detailed fault analysis and rectification or repair of the source of the fault/components
  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on simulators and associated simulator systems
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on simulators and associated simulator systems
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight on designated simulators
  • Perform basic visual alignments
  • Run automatic Qualification Test Guide (QTG)
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications
  • Perform administrative tasks as required

About You:

  • You will either hold a technical degree or 3 years or more work experience in an electronic, avionic, or technical field as a technician or in a similar role
  • Extensive expertise in electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of avionics is welcome, but not required
  • Computer literate (PC and/or computer mainframe/architecture)
  • Some experience in soldering and circuit board repairs preferred
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and suite
  • Practical, analytical mindset with great troubleshooting skills
  • Good knowledge of Italian and English, both written and spoken
  • High level of communication and teamwork skills
