About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lab Engineer to join our team at STMicroelectronics. As a Lab Engineer, you will be responsible for performing material analysis and failure investigation using state-of-the-art instruments and techniques to support fab manufacturing, Quality, technology/product developments and qualifications, and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide analysis support for failure analysis, fault isolation, and characterization for both morphological and chemical aspects.
- Provide data analysis support for ongoing process reliability monitoring schemes, failure analysis, and characterization.
- Learn and apply techniques such as X-Ray and Mass Spectroscopy, Electron Microscopy, and provide analysis support depending on business needs.
- In-house troubleshoot, repair, and maintain analytical tools in a healthy condition.
- Carry out development and improvement activities to improve existing processes and develop new processes where necessary.
- Provide timely, clear, and concise communication of job status and results to internal customers.
- Interact regularly with other team members throughout the job submission and reporting phases.
- Interact and collaborate with lab teams in Catania and other locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, or related field.
- MS or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, or related field.
- Analytical laboratory tool experience such as TEM, FIB, TXRF, ToF-SIMS, or AES.
- Knowledge and experience of SIMS, X-ray spectroscopy, or GIXRF.
- Possesses an understanding of semiconductor device physics and semiconductor manufacturing process for both Si and Wide Band Gap substrates.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in troubleshooting, repairing analytical instruments, and related electronics in-house.
- Computer programming skills or prior experience in writing codes/scripts to process lab analysis results using any programming language/s and/or with MATLAB.
- Knowledge and experience of Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) techniques such as AFM, SCM, SSRM, and sMIM.
