A challenging opportunity has arisen for a talented Junior Structural Engineer to join our team at Hitachi Rail S.p.A.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Junior Structural Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic, ensuring the development of assigned activities is on track.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To define test specifications, fatigue test specifications, data analysis, and data collection for next-generation projects.
  • To study repair solutions for problems emerged on vehicles in service.
  • To collaborate with project groups (internal and external) and ensure the development of the assigned activity part.
  • To be the design referent for internal and/or external resources involved in the team addressing vehicle problems in operation.
  • To act as an independent verifier for new car and bogie projects.
  • To conduct concurrent engineering with the production and service department.
  • To follow production in prototyping phases and validation tests of the car register and bogies.
  • To support operative checks and/or repairs of the body and bogies of vehicles in service.
Requirements:
  • Experience in performing tasks as described above.
  • Master of Science or technical degree required, preferably in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years working railway vehicles projects in an engineering role as mechanical engineer, preferably structural fatigue and experimental data analysis.
  • Availability for short domestic and overseas trips.
Desired Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling (in CREO), 2D drawing (CREO and Autocad), and FEA software, HBK Ncode, or similar software.
  • Basic knowledge of welding processes using in carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloy structures.
  • Basic knowledge of structural fatigue.
  • Analytic approach.
  • Team-working attitude.
  • Flexibility.
  • Result orientation.
Estimated Salary:

€55,000 - €65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Pistoia, Italy.
