Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Composite Design Engineer to join our team at Red Bull Racing. As a key member of our composite design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing composite parts for our Formula 1 cars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake studies and schemes based on aerodynamic information and car layout, according to line manager guidelines.
  • Ensure designs are released on target, to agreed specification.
  • Design and detail specifications of various composite components, including front and rear wings, chassis, impact structures, and bodywork.
  • Cover the reliability needs for designed parts, in collaboration with related departments.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and design analysis reports.
  • Collaborate with the materials team, production, and R&D to select appropriate composite materials based on performance requirements and manufacturing considerations.
  • Maintain effective communication with your own team and other departments.
  • Contribute to car performance with ideas for improvement and highlight any potential issues seen.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technical developments that can be applied.
  • Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects.
Requirements
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in composite design, preferably in the automotive or motorsports industry.
  • Solid knowledge of modeling techniques and an understanding of composite manufacturing techniques using pre-preg technology.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, Siemens NX would be preferable.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Travel 10-20%.
