We are currently seeking a Software System Engineer to join our team in Italy, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our customers by managing the software that operates our advanced equipment utilized in microchip manufacturing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Engage in system software troubleshooting, including Microsoft environments, networking, and custom applications.
- Analyze reported issues and identify problems through log file examination.
- Develop and implement troubleshooting strategies to uncover root causes.
- Provide swift resolutions to systemic issues and validate solutions on equipment.
- Document software bugs that may lead to customer dissatisfaction.
- Collaborate with the software development team, supplying necessary information for software fixes.
- Software Installation & Configuration:
- Install and configure custom software applications on system controllers.
- Utilize tools like Microsoft DISM to apply base images to system controllers.
- Educate and train team members on software installation processes.
- Software Testing & Validation:
- Create test plans for new software releases on production equipment.
- Document and execute first-time installations using simulations for high-volume manufacturing equipment.
- Conduct and validate customer scenario testing in a simulated environment.
- Software Support:
- Provide both remote and on-site support at customer semiconductor fabrication sites.
- Understand customer and local team software requirements and collaborate with the software development team for implementation.
- Assist with software-related tasks, including script implementations, antivirus updates, backups, and database activities.
- Support equipment connectivity to customer networks and automation systems.
- Participate in factory automation scenario testing and integration with customers.
- Engage in product design, testing, and documentation reviews as necessary, and represent software interests in user conferences and customer meetings.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficient in Windows environments, including administrative tasks and troubleshooting abnormal behavior.
- Strong networking skills, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Ability to write scripts for repetitive tasks such as backups and software deployment.
- Familiarity with SECS/GEMS semi standards, virtualization with VMWare, and applying base images using tools like Norton Ghost or Microsoft DISM is preferred.
