Bakery Team Member Overview

As a vital part of our culinary operations at Giant Eagle, the Bakery Team Member plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality baked goods and exceptional service to our customers. This position requires a blend of skill, dedication, and a passion for baking.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Experience: Successful completion of a job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months of relevant experience or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
  • Preferred Background: Previous involvement in the Bakery sector or a related field.
  • Educational Requirements: A high school diploma is not mandatory.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute bench work in accordance with established scratch procedures when necessary.
  • Prepare and bake a variety of products following specified recipes.
  • Utilize the proof box for product insertion, adjusting controls to ensure proper size and shape.
  • Fry donuts adhering to established guidelines.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting patrons, assisting them, and addressing inquiries.
  • Uphold safety and cleanliness standards within the work environment.
  • Accurately document special orders.
  • Support the efficiency of the Bakery backroom and storage areas.
  • Gather necessary ingredients for baking tasks.
  • Provide assistance in various areas as required.
