Role Overview
The Proposal Engineer works collaboratively with cross-functional teams from Commercial, Process Technology, and Project Delivery. This role is essential in crafting cost-effective proposals for Nutrition & Health systems that align with customer requirements. The Proposal Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all proposal processes, including cost estimates, P&ID and layout drawings, proposal documentation, and project timelines, are executed efficiently and in compliance with company standards.
You will be part of the EMEA team, which includes 9 Proposal Engineers, reporting directly to the Head of Systems Proposal Management based in Denmark.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Commercial team to ensure a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements and complete RFQ analysis. Adhere to SPX FLOW's internal governance and proposal approval processes. Work with Commercial, Process Technology, and Project Delivery teams to develop process solutions, including process flow diagrams and P&IDs, ensuring alignment with customer expectations. Utilize calculation software for equipment sizing. Prepare detailed cost estimations for equipment and services using the appropriate tools. Build relationships with internal subcontractors to gather necessary sub-quotations or cost estimates. Consult with external subcontractors in line with Supply Chain management processes. Organize design, quotation, and cost reviews as needed. Identify and communicate potential risks during the review process. Collaborate with Engineering and Project Management to develop detailed project schedules. Ensure project risks are identified and mitigated during the proposal phase. Support the completion and review of all documentation required for internal stage gate submissions. Maintain an accurate RFQ deviation list reflecting scope and limits. Facilitate internal communication between departments to create cohesive proposals. Ensure timely submission of proposals to both internal and external stakeholders. Document all changes in cost, pricing, and scope across proposal revisions. Foster strong relationships with the Commercial organization. Assist in the development of CVO quotes alongside Project Management and Commercial teams. Participate in handover and closure meetings at project completion.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of 3 years of experience in proposals, process engineering, project management, or a related area, preferably within the Nutrition & Health sector. Familiarity with project delivery concepts, including engineering, supply chain, installation, and commissioning processes. Experience in preparing and executing project proposals. Proficient in costing and reporting tools such as SAP, EXAPTA, etc. Strong skills in MS Office and AutoCAD. Fluent in English and Italian, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Financial acumen with an understanding of key cost components and margin development. Attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical specifications and contractual requirements. Quality-focused with commercial and legal awareness. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams. Organized with a comprehensive overview of project requirements.Benefits
