We invite you to become a part of the Amazon Reliability Maintenance Engineering team, where we focus on maintaining and enhancing technologies within the Global Amazon Warehouse & Delivery Network.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking motivated and customer-oriented individuals to join us as Automation Engineers (AE). The primary responsibility of the AE role is to diagnose, troubleshoot, and enhance control solutions for automated material handling systems, including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, scales, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, and control cabinets.
The AE will also provide training to Engineering Technicians on device troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the site-level Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all control systems and sensors, actively monitoring, diagnosing, and repairing systems to ensure high equipment availability.
- Train technicians in fundamental control systems troubleshooting to elevate site knowledge.
- Collaborate within the EU Controls network to enhance monitoring capabilities for Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics, providing visualization and data to internal stakeholders.
- Engage in or lead continuous improvement initiatives coordinated by the EU Controls network.
- Work with IT, EU Controls Engineering, and Operations Engineering to ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of backup libraries.
- Assist global teams in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Support other sites within the EU network as necessary.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and develop improvement strategies in compliance with IEC standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience with PLC-controlled automation and troubleshooting in a continuous process or production setting.
- Familiarity with various conveyors and sortation systems.
- Experience in material handling, flow, and capacity visualization and monitoring.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the local language at CEFR Level B2 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields.
- Understanding of ISO 13849 & 62061 standards.
- Familiarity with CE Machinery Directive.
- Experience in a multi-site operational environment.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, data analysis, and process improvement methodologies.
