About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Physical Architect Engineer to join our team at Thales Alenia Space, a global leader in space manufacturing. As a key member of our system level core team, you will interface with agencies and customers, requiring exceptional communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a strong inclination towards team working.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define System Architecture from Customer high-level requirements, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Flow-down of functional schematics into the physical product architecture, including collection and implementation at system level of sub-system requirements.
  • Coordinate and Execute Layout Studies to evaluate and implement all physical architectural aspects characterizing complex space systems.
  • Manage physical configuration evolution, finding smart solutions in terms of cost, schedule, and product excellence.
  • Ensure form and fit compatibility of the complete system.
  • Coordinate CAD Operators activities and priorities.
  • Support Standardization and Re-use initiatives to optimize system design and development.
  • Define mechanical interfaces between the System and external elements and within the System between different subsystems.
  • Control and maintenance of all internal and external physical interfaces.
  • Creation and management of the system Mechanical Interface Control Document (MICD).
  • Elaboration and management of Mass properties budgets (Mass, CoG, and MoI).
  • Contribute to System Requirements Definition and Validation to ensure system meets customer needs and expectations.
  • Support Manufacturing, Assembly, and Integration activities.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering with a focus on space systems or related field.
  • Previous work experience in the space industry, with a strong understanding of system architecture and design.
  • Strong Motivation and Passion for working in the space business, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
  • Good will in working in a multinational context and projects, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attitude to Problem-Solving and developing mechanical solutions, with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of technical drawing standards and standards documentation.
  • Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes.
  • Experience in Product Validation and Test to ensure system meets customer requirements and expectations.
  • Knowledge of Catia (CAD software) and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Attitude towards Teaming and Multi-disciplinary Approaches to optimize system design and development.
  • Respect of Company hierarchy, rules, and discipline.
  • Excellent Knowledge of English Language (spoken and written) to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
