Venezia, Veneto, Italia DNV A tempo pieno

The Maritime Area Iberia, Italy encompasses all maritime business operations and functions through two primary Service Lines: Newbuilding and Certification/Verification of Materials and Components (NB&CMC). Fleet in Service (FiS) is integrated within the business Unit FiS West Europe.

We are seeking a Surveyor to be part of our NB&CMC division in Italy, reporting directly to the local line manager.

Our clientele demands a comprehensive array of certification services, which include but are not limited to materials and welding procedures, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, gears, thrusters, electrical installations, automation systems, lifting devices, and intricate offshore packages. The classification of large and complex vessels, from the design phase through to final delivery, is integral to our service offerings.

Building on this traditional foundation, we have embarked on a journey that embraces advanced future technologies: fuel cells, innovative turbine designs, sophisticated electrical drives, and lithium batteries for marine propulsion, among others.

Our ambition is to lead in innovation, digital transformation, and customer focus. To achieve this, we continuously evaluate and implement new methodologies across various disciplines. Recent initiatives include electronic certifications, remote inspections, additive manufacturing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels, and autonomous vessels. Addressing customer needs and minimizing carbon footprints are paramount in our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Certification and verification of materials and components under class and non-class related systems and processes. Manage a portfolio of clients and collaborate with colleagues globally to address their requirements. Serve as an advisor to clients, guiding them through the regulatory landscape of the maritime sector and supporting their growth. Conduct newbuilding surveys on passenger vessels in accordance with established rules and regulations. Ensure the seamless execution of projects in partnership with the project manager and their on-site team. Carry out all activities with a strong emphasis on safety, considering both personal and collective well-being. Collaborate within a highly motivated team, where trust, teamwork, and innovation are core values. Engage in a technically stimulating role, responsible for the certification of diverse technical products. Opportunity for professional growth and development in a specialized role. A dynamic position that evolves with technological advancements. A flexible yet demanding role with significant responsibilities, interacting with intriguing clients and products. A position that fosters both professional and personal development.

Position Qualifications:

Master’s or bachelor’s degree in marine, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or other relevant fields). Minimum of 5 years of experience in the maritime industry. Knowledge and expertise in electrical and control & monitoring systems will be advantageous. Proficiency in written and spoken business-standard English is essential. A valid driver’s license is required. Willingness to travel frequently within the country and occasionally within the region is crucial. Availability to relocate based on business requirements.

Personal Attributes:

Ability to work flexibly, independently, and with a results-oriented mindset. Customer-focused approach. Demonstrated initiative and eagerness to learn and contribute. Team player with a positive attitude. Prepared to actively support our processes as we transition into a new digital landscape. Motivated by the prospect of working autonomously and taking ownership of responsibilities.
