Organizational Setting: The Forestry Division (NFO) leads FAO's work in promoting sustainable forest management and providing leadership on the environmental, social and economic dimensions of forestry, including its contributions to poverty reduction and food security and nutrition.
Job Summary: The Forestry and Livelihoods Team is seeking a consultant to provide technical and coordination support to ongoing agroforestry activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate publications and agroforestry monitoring studies
- Gather, analyze and review relevant information and best practices
- Write syntheses for upcoming publications
- Assist with the preparation of reports and guidelines
- Support the development of capacity building materials
- Contribute to project management and implementation
- Assist with the development of new projects/programmes
- Contribute to the organization of regional and global events
Requirements:
- University degree in forestry, agriculture, natural resources, or related fields
- Two to four years of relevant experience for Consultants Category C, at least five years for Category B, and at least 10 years for Category A
- Working knowledge (level C) of English
- FAO Core Competencies
- Limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other official FAO languages considered an advantage
- Work experience in developing countries
- Extent of relevant work experience in agroforestry systems
- Experience in writing technical documents in English
- Experience in operations support
- Familiarity with FAO activities will be considered an asset
