Job Title & Purpose

Harness Designer

Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the effective design of harnesses and their seamless integration within various products, including traction systems, electrical cubicles, power modules, and switchgear. This will be achieved by adhering to established design protocols, ensuring product feasibility, complying with regulatory standards, and following the Alstom development process (DFQ).

Key Responsibilities

Performance Metrics/KPIs

Adherence to QCD commitments (Quality, Costs, Delay)

• Deliverables completed correctly on the first attempt (No modifications required due to design errors post-FEI);

Core Duties

- Ensure compliance with electrical and schematic design standards.

- Incorporate lessons learned, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations into deliverables.

- Produce deliverables while considering Schematics & Apparatus and project inputs (CPS, WD, E BoM...).

- Integrate related requirements from various domains: Advanced Industrialization, Harness Design, EMC, and Maintainability.

- Manage project timelines through effective planning.

- Collaborate with mechanical designers, manufacturing engineers, and S&A designers to create 3D models (routing) for each harness, as well as design 3D models for metallic supports/parts related to electrical installations.

- Oversee the detailed electrical harness design deliverables, including BoM kits, formboards, ERP & DMA BoMs, wiring lists, plug maps, instruction sheets, and lists of jigs & tools.

- Ensure timely launch of prototypes and proper storage following official release (DMA, GSI, TED, SEE ONE, etc.).

- Organize and lead reviews of harness design deliverables, participate in Electrical Process reviews (detailed phase), and contribute to Electrical Process DR managed by S&A designers.

- Update deliverables in response to modifications (harness suppliers, internal or TT manufacturing, etc.).

- Address FQR inquiries, resolve identified issues, and manage gaps to facilitate retrofitting of harnesses.

- Ensure expertise in terminal ends and cabling for the product/project.

- Drive innovation and contribute to the enhancement of electrical harness design processes alongside the skill leader, focusing on:

- Standard updates in the métier

- Optimization of IT tools

- Improvements in the electrical domain (CATIA Electrical, CATIA Sheet Metal, FAO, SEE ONE, etc.)

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:

Master’s Degree in Electrotechnical, Electromechanical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Professional experience as an Engineer with Electrotechnical or Electromechanical skills [beginner/junior;
