We are currently seeking a Process Automation Engineer who is passionate about enhancing the quality of life for people worldwide.

The Process Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the dependable operation and qualified status of equipment and business processes within their designated area. This role is vital for maintaining compliance, control, and the capability to meet customer expectations while fostering continuous improvement initiatives. The Engineer collaborates with a cross-functional support team, acting as a subject matter expert on equipment to help the organization achieve its safety, quality, and productivity objectives.

The selected candidate will work closely with various teams, providing expertise in Automation, Process Controls, and Data Analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the validated state of site control systems in accordance with Lilly's quality standards, including the development and execution of validation strategies and related documentation.
  • Lead and execute investigative activities.
  • Provide operational support for the site's control systems, including troubleshooting issues, implementing changes per site change control procedures, responding to system events, and conducting routine maintenance checks.
  • Implement and support electronic systems, such as plant historians, to capture production data related to process automation.
  • Design, specify, and code control systems, primarily focusing on the site's Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Conduct testing of automation system functionalities.
  • Manage automation projects effectively.
  • Support capital projects related to automation, including new product introductions and facility expansions.
  • Collaborate to align with the production plan.
  • Engage with external partners, including vendors.

Relationships:

  • All manufacturing functions.
  • Other members of the Process Automation team and the Manufacturing Information & Control Systems group.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering (Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related field).
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent self-management and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to influence without direct authority.
  • In-depth knowledge of coding for Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • A strong technical curiosity and proven problem-solving skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience in process automation engineering, ideally in a manufacturing context.
