This role plays a key part in ensuring the effective operation and reliability of our HVAC systems across the fleet.The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying the capabilities and conformity of HVAC plants and all related equipment installed on board. You will also be involved in reviewing and monitoring all Retrofit Projects connected to HVAC systems, ensuring that any upgrades or modifications meet the required standards and operate efficiently. Collaboration with the Engine Department will be an important aspect of the role, as you work together to guarantee the smooth operation and proper implementation of HVAC systems across various projects. In addition to this, you will supervise and participate in skilled maintenance work involving air‑conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment.The role also involves preparing and maintaining comprehensive technical records, correspondence, and reports to support ongoing maintenance planning and equipment performance analysis. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the continued improvement and reliability of our HVAC operations.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in technical meetings with suppliers related to HVAC equipment.Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (F.A.T.) for HVAC equipment and plants as needed.Perform periodic visits on board vessels during operation periods and dry‑docks.Maintain records of parts and materials used; estimate and order materials and equipment of your competence.Stay updated on new HVAC technologies and evaluate their applicability on board the ships.Analyze and approve new building design upgrades to HVAC and ventilation systems technical specifications for new buildings.Plan and coordinate all vessel maintenance activity.Create and upgrade standard procedures for maintenance management of spare parts requests.Carry out surveys and inspections on vessels.Assist with budgets for areas of responsibility to maintain equipment operation and availability.Key QualificationsMinimum of 3 years direct experience in Marine HVAC and Refrigeration system operations.Experienced Chief Refrigeration Engineer, HVAC Engineer or HVAC Superintendent.Experience working onboard large cruise ships.Demonstrated detailed knowledge of IMO, MARPOL and US EPA requirements for refrigerant gases.Essential Skills and RequirementsExperience working with Marine Engineers and developers, performing market research and evaluating new technologies.Fluency in English.Working knowledge of additional European languages (Italian / French) desirable.EPA Certification.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with discretion.Willingness to travel overseas as required.Excellent organizing and planning skills.Ability to assimilate, critically examine and analyze technical information and make informed recommendations where appropriate.Strong computer proficiency: Excel (formulas, charts, and tables), PowerPoint and Word.Seniority LevelMid‑Senior levelEmployment TypeFull‑timeJob FunctionManagement and ManufacturingIndustriesTravel ArrangementsOur CommitmentWe are committed to building a future that values diverse perspectives, embraces the world beyond borders, and fosters an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected and empowered to be their authentic selves.
