Our team owns and builds customer-facing experiences – Your Orders, Order Details, searching order history – which help us realize our mission of providing a perfectly executed, transparent, and flexible delivery experience that customers LOVE. Your solutions will provide the data needed to anticipate and resolve customers’ questions before they are asked. Our team owns services that enable customers to track and control their deliveries on Amazon retail sites. As a member of this team, you will design and develop software to collaborate with Amazon’s numerous backend systems and directly impact customers. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with business partners and guide the design of our systems. At Amazon, we are known for our customer obsession. Key job responsibilities The ideal candidate for this role has good experience in designing and developing scalable, high‑performance systems and services that are flexible, reliable, and maintainable. You have excellent problem‑solving skills, a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, and a customer‑focused mindset. You take a pragmatic and iterative approach to building software: you simplify tasks and get things done, with a demonstrated track record of building and delivering software and working effectively with external and internal teams. Our systems and algorithms operate on one of the world’s largest product catalogs and routinely process massive datasets using distributed frameworks. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you would also raise the technical bar in the team by advocating for building things right, introducing best practices and long‑term architecture, minimizing technical debt, and mentoring and growing other engineers. Basic Qualifications5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language 5+ years leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalentPreferred Qualifications5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
