AWS is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Senior Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. The Senior Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data center environment. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a large organization, managing department heads who own data center facility infrastructure including the operational availability of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. If you are passionate about Customer Experience, think and act globally, and want to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon.com data centers, this may be the challenge you’ve been looking for.Key job responsibilitiesHiring, managing, and developing the operations management team, including facilities managers, chief engineering managers and engineering operations technicians.Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives related to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build‑outs, new colocation build‑outs, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the entire mechanical/electrical/plumbing infrastructure to facilitate daily operation.Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management.Vendor management of colocation data center services providers, if required, to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA’s.Oversight of a preventative maintenance system and adherence to schedules, evaluation and performance of our infrastructure supporting data center operations.Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific maintenance tasks, balancing internal skillsets with frugality.Safety, security, and incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree or above in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity.Experience managing large teams across multiple locations and languages, or experience as an acting operations manager.Experience communicating with technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership.5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentation experience.10+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, etc.Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain).Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $313,300/year in our highest geographic market.
