We are looking for a Senior Renewables Energy Project Engineer in Milan / Hybrid Key Responsibilities Project Development and Execution Control of protection systems, engineering activities associated with renewable energy plants. Development of SCADA and protection design activities throughout the project lifecycle: from feasibility studies and preliminary engineering work, construction, and commissioning phases. Purchase order specifications to activate external engineering support. Management and supervision of contractors' design and engineering activities. Control and electrical technical specifications, as well as network architecture, when required, supporting the Procurement areas during the bidding phases. Support in the review of electrical drawings, review of technical specifications in compliance with regulations. Monitoring and review of technical documents issued by EPC supplier contractors, ensuring design compliance with EGP specifications and engineering best practices. Technical Due Diligence and Investment Support Lead the specialist team conducting technical reviews of SOLAR and BESS projects for greenfield and M&A opportunities. Interface and coordinate with other company functions (Business Development, Legal, Procurement, O&M, etc.) during project development up to Final Investment Decision (FID). Support the definition of business models and commercial offers (that could integrate energy storage applications also). Assist in economic and financial evaluations, including cost structuring, risk assessments, and sensitivity analyses. Evaluate compliance with relevant grid codes and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NFPA 855, IEEE 1547, IEC, RED III, Decree 128 / 2016). Application and Innovation of Storage Technologies Apply technical knowledge of PV and BESS plants equipment (PV modules, Trackers, Conversion Unit, String Inverter, Batteries) and control systems to optimize project performance. Explore new technical solutions for PV and BESS system with relevant control system. Analyze and define use cases: frequency regulation, peak shaving, energy shifting, backup power, and grid support. Support innovation initiatives related to hybrid plant operation and digital asset management. Qualifications and Skills Your profile is a natural match if you have : Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical or electronic preferred). Experience: 10+ years of experience in energy sector projects, 6+ years of experience in the design and implementation of SOLAR or BESS as Project Engineer. Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken), excellent communication, team leading, decision-making, innovation, focus on results, able to give and receive feedback. Technical competencies: knowledge of SOLAR and BESS technologies, EMS / BMS architecture, Power Plant Control (PPC) architecture, bidirectional inverters, thermal systems, and grid compliance. Familiarity with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA, IEC, IEEE). Capex and Opex estimation. Advanced knowledge of the plant design process from the feasibility phase (conceptual design), development phase (Basic Design) and execution phase (For Construction Design). Knowledge of HV, MV and LV infrastructures and main equipment. Travel requirements: This role requires frequent national & international travels. Availability to attend site inspections, technical meetings, and engineering reviews is required. What drives your application forward A master\'s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or similar is highly valued. Certifications in EMS, PPC, power electronics, or grid integration are a plus. Demonstrated experience integrating storage systems with renewable assets. Proven ability to lead technical teams in multidisciplinary project environments. Ability to lead technical discussions with international suppliers, clients, and partners.
