Job OverviewAt Amazon, we prioritize health, safety, and well‑being above all else. Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager. In this position you will partner with the site‑level operations team to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. You will leverage lean principles and Kaizen events to lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce conditional and ergonomic risk. You will build trust with cross‑functional operations teams, influence change, and provide risk assessments and safety data analysis. You will instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals on EHS policies and assist regional teams in incorporating our safety standards.ResponsibilitiesAct as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements; identify and implement plans for deficiencies.Ensure safety record keeping, data integrity, and accurate reporting to support business safety initiatives.Deliver on‑time and quality projects to Operations.Deep‑dive safety metrics and review incident trends to justify resource allocation.Audit record‑keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance.Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure accurate training, auditing, and scoring methods.Manage and mentor the Safety Managers and Safety Associates at the assigned site.Engage the Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) and Site Leadership to drive long‑term strategic actions for incident reduction.Perform targeted Kaizen events in partnership with Operations teams based on identified risks.Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training.Review effectiveness of deployed safety tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.Partner with corporate and other regional field safety personnel to leverage global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards.Additional Job ElementsLift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.Stand/walk for up to 12 hours per shift.Work in an environment with variable noise levels.Work in environments subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments).Continuously climb and descend stairs (applicable to sites with stairs).Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.Those that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain it within three weeks of the start date.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree.7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role.7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management.CPR/First Aid Certification.Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree (preferred).Certified Safety Professional (preferred).Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization.Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.Prior experience in a management development training program.Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff.Demonstrated experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility in an organization.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Equal Opportunity EmployerAmazon is an equal‑opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,700 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,700 per year in our highest geographic market.
