Our client is a regulated fintech company operating in the UK and Europe, delivering financial services and loyalty solutions to clients across Italy , the UK, Ireland , and beyond . With a stable and scalable platform , they are poised for growth , product expansion , and deeper regulatory capabilities over the next 2 –5 years . We are seeking a hands-on , business- oriented CTO to lead the technology function . This is a pivotal role in a small, collaborative leadership team, responsible for evolving the existing platform to meet growing market demands, supporting product innovation , and ensuring technical excellence across the organization . The candidate will report to the CEO. He / she should be based in Italy and available to work onsite in the Rome office 2/3 days per week (with flexibility as needed ). Responsibilities Guide the evolution of the cloud-native platform , ensuring scalability , stability , and alignment with business goals. Lead and inspire a multicultural engineering and operations team (~20 people), primarily based in the UK and Italy . Collaborate closely with the Product team to ensure efficient delivery of new features and services. Strengthen technical governance, ensure GDPR and regulatory awareness , and support compliance initiatives . Represent the technology function in discussions with clients’ technical teams. Manage and optimize an annual budget. Drive adoption of modern development practices and AI tools within the engineering team and contribute to the product roadmap with a forward-looking tech vision . Your Profile Proven experience as a CTO or senior technology leader in a SaaS or fintech environment . Strong background in software engineering or architecture , ideally with .NET/C# and Azure. Familiarity with microservices , containerization , and modern DevOps practices . Experience working in regulated environments ( financial services preferred ) would be a nice -to- have Demonstrated ability to lead distributed , multicultural teams with empathy and cultural sensitivity . Comfortable in agile, fast- paced , and less structured environments . Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage both internal teams and external clients. Visionary mindset with a practical approach to AI integration and emerging technologies . Fluent English
