We were meant to fly.In Advanced Systems Design we are developing Mechanical Transmissions (i.e., accessory drivetrain & power gearboxes) for Next Generation Narrow Body applications. In this spirit, we are looking for a talented engineer to play a pivotal role in conceptualizing, designing, developing, and testing high-performance Mechanical Transmission Systems. Your expertise will contribute to the evolution of aviation technology, enabling next-generation aircraft to operate with unparalleled efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesConduct concept design and technical feasibility studies in full collaboration with the whole design teamDefine gearbox architecture and design intent in line with product specification targetsLead and coordinate design activities providing inputs for components definition (mechanical/functional interfaces, stack ups and assembly checks)Coordinate with GE Aerospace global teams and partners to ensure proper integration of the gearbox module in the engineDefine the Bill of Material (part list) and populate Configuration Management system toolsOversee the procurement and testing of prototypes, collaborate with testing teams to validate the functionality, reliability, and efficiency of the gearbox moduleLiaise closely to the Gearbox System Engineer/Module Owner to ensure program priorities are properly flow down to the design teamQualifications/RequirementsDegree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited universityPrevious experience in Mechanical DesignKnowledge of CAD design tools (preferable NX & Teamcenter)English and Italian fluencyWork VISA, according to local regulations is requiredDesired CharacteristicsKnowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologiesDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problemsNew Product Introduction process experienceBasic FEM tools knowledgeStrong oral and written communication skillsClear thinking and diligent approachGood interpersonal and leadership skillsTeam working and inclusiveness proven capabilitiesWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes smart work in hybrid mode, and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
