Sr. Operations Manager

Job ID: | Amazon.com Services LLCOur Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development and operations objectives. They oversee all aspects of operations at the site, manage and lead a team of Operations and Area Managers, coach and mentor the team to ensure performance objectives are met, build positive employee relations, and develop leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.ResponsibilitiesDrive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and ultimately the Fulfillment Center to meet and exceed the business plan.Be responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of either Inbound or Outbound operations.Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their performance and that of their departments.Leverage the Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and incorporating them into improvement plans for the functional area.Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among the network.Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Sr. Operations Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, and provide needed support for other staff initiatives.Additional Job ElementsLift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.Walk in the FC and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.Stand and walk an average of 5 miles daily.Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air‑conditioned.Access all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways) safely and without limitation.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience.7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination.Preferred QualificationsDegree in Engineering, Operations or a related field and MBA preferred.Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500/year in the lowest geographic market to $200,900/year in the highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
