The Opportunity

We are working with a fast-growing European Independent Power Producer (IPP) looking to appoint a Structured Finance Associate to its team in Milan.

The business develops, invests in, finances, owns and operates renewable energy assets across multiple European markets, with a growing portfolio across solar, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) .


The Structured Finance Associate will play a key role in arranging and executing financing solutions across the company's development and operational portfolio. Working closely with the investment, M&A, development and finance teams, the successful candidate will have significant exposure to lenders, institutional investors, advisers and senior management.

This is an attractive opportunity for someone looking to move into a principal-side environment and take greater ownership of financing transactions across the full project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the structuring, execution and closing of project finance and structured finance transactions across renewable energy and BESS projects.
  • Build, maintain and review detailed financial models covering debt sizing, project returns, sensitivities and financing scenarios.
  • Evaluate different financing structures, including:
  • Senior project finance debt
  • Construction financing
  • Acquisition financing
  • HoldCo and portfolio financing
  • Refinancing
  • Bridge facilities
  • Corporate and structured debt solutions
  • Support negotiations with commercial banks, infrastructure debt funds and other financing institutions.
  • Prepare lender materials, financing presentations, information packs and internal investment papers.
  • Manage and coordinate financing due diligence across technical, legal, tax, insurance and commercial workstreams.
  • Review and support the negotiation of term sheets, facility agreements and other financing documentation.
  • Work closely with internal M&A and investment teams to assess financing assumptions for acquisitions and new investment opportunities.
  • Support the financing of projects from development through construction and into operations.
  • Analyse project economics, including power price assumptions, PPAs, merchant exposure, CAPEX, OPEX and debt capacity.
  • Monitor existing financing arrangements, covenant compliance and refinancing opportunities across the operating portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with European banks, debt funds, advisers and other financing partners.
  • Support senior management in developing the group's broader financing and capital structure strategy.


Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Approximately 3–6 years' relevant experience within project finance, structured finance, infrastructure finance or renewable energy.
