Role OverviewOur client, a leading Software, Information and Communication Technologies company, operates internationally (Athens, Brussels, Luxembourg, Copenhagen, Stockholm, London, Nicosia, Hong-Kong, Valetta, etc). Our client is a renowned supplier of IT services to government institutions, multinational corporations, public administrations and multinational companies, research and academic institutes.Our client currently has a vacancy for a GIS Specialist fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Ispra, Italy. The work will be carried out either in the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.Job typeFull time/PermanentLocationItalyWorkplaceOnsiteNote only EU candidates can be consideredRequirementsMaster’s degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in IT;Good knowledge of Geographical Information Systems software (ArcGIS, ArcMap, QGIS);Good knowledge of Python and R applied to spatial data and data visualization;Experience in integrating high spatial resolution data from a variety of different systems to database format, with increasing volumes of data and ensuring optimal performance;Deep knowledge in provision of technical evaluations;Experience in quality assessment provision;The following would be considered valuable assets:Understanding of environmental and climate change related issues;Experience in developing up to date greenhouse gas emission inventories at global, national, sub‑national and urban level;Experience in the processing and analysis of data, preferably in the area of emissions, air quality and climate change;Knowledge of PHP, JavaScript (incl. Ajax), XHTML, CSS;Knowledge of MySQL Database, Microsoft SQL Server Database, IIS and PHP configuration of web‑server;Excellent command of the English language.ResponsibilitiesProvide support for the preparation and computation of the project’s global emission inventory data;Develop a database infrastructure to host a high‑spatial resolution emission inventory for greenhouse gases and air pollutants;Develop high‑spatial resolution proxies at European and global level to downscale national emissions for all emitting sectors;Develop and apply a consistent methodology for greenhouse gas and air pollutant emission estimation for global urban areas and sub‑national level;Ensure data quality control, data integrity, database optimization.#J-18808-Ljbffr
