Hyatt Centric Murano Venice is seeking a passionate, hands-on Engineering Manager to oversee our hotel's maintenance operations and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency while growing and developing within the hotel industry.

We are looking for an Engineering/Maintenance Manager to join our team in Murano, Venice

Main responsibilities:

  • Supervise repair, maintenance, and engineering operations according to departmental standards.
  • Coordinate new projects, plan goals, and direct technical activities.
  • Analyze resource needs, and market demand for project feasibility.
  • Maintain power tools and assist other tradespersons when needed.
  • Review equipment logs and take corrective action with GM when necessary.
  • Keep inventory of engineering stores and monitor fuel consumption.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of plant and mechanical equipment rooms.
  • Review daily briefings and debriefings from Team Leaders.
  • Create and coordinate monthly training plans with the Training Manager.
  • Train staff on maintenance procedures and assist with repairs.
  • Modify installations to reduce material waste and ease future maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and cleanliness in work areas.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Regularly inspect building safety features and operational equipment.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs and energy conservation efforts.
  • Ensure operational fire, life, and safety systems.
  • Approve invoices and purchase requests for technical services and installations.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national codes, notifying GM of non-compliance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure hotel success and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to hotel rules, policies, and safety regulations.

Financial:

  • Manage costs based on performance indicators while delivering guest satisfaction.
  • Maximize productivity through multi-skilling and task flexibility.
  • Ensure adherence to financial record-keeping and reporting rules.

Administration

  • Align engineering activities with corporate strategy.
  • Represent engineering on the hotel's Executive Committee.
  • Conduct departmental communications and inspections.
  • Prepare reports as required by the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a similar hotel role
  • Experience in problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, and communication
  • Prior engineering experience, preferably in hotels, with HVAC and plumbing knowledge, building code
  • Familiar with procurement and scheduling programs
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively and work in challenging environments
  • Computer skills
  • Fluent Italian and English are required

A minimum of 2 + years in a hotel in a similar role is required. Track record of working collaboratively with others to achieve desired results. Skilled in problem analysis, problem-solving, and decision making
