Embrace this opportunity to make a meaningful impact while growing your career in an environment that values innovation and excellence.Job DutiesAssigns and supervises specialists and technicians in all maintenance and repairs activities to include training staff via subordinate supervisionSupervises, schedules, and directs activities pertaining to unit maintenance and construction issuesPerforms maintenance repairs, new construction, and preventive maintenance as requiredEvaluates, schedules, and plans maintenance-related projects to include pricing, material lists, equipment needs, and time framesConducts inspectionsCompletes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor using basic office equipment/computerInspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure in proper working order and all are accounted forAttends all training and meetings as scheduledDrives on State businessPerforms other duties appropriate to the assignmentKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)Supervisory principles and management techniquesEmployee relations and work scheduleStructural issues regarding building and utility service systems to include blueprints, safety practices, and codesAll trades, i.e., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general building maintenance, and preventative maintenanceBudgetary issues, including estimating costs and ordering of materialsNational and local building codesBasic computer skills and computer software to create reports, charts, and conduct researchSkill InWritten and verbal communicationCoordinating, scheduling, organizing, and assigning maintenance projectsDeveloping and implementing preventive maintenance programs and related repairsEstablishing and maintaining interpersonal relationshipsTime managementAbility ToInstruct use of common and specialized tools, equipment, materials, and preventative maintenanceReading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and schematicsDemonstrate methods and practices for preventative maintenanceRepair, remodeling, and constructionWork in a prison environmentSelective Preference(s)On-the-job training as a tradesman or one (1) year of experience equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor IPre-Employment Requirements Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.
