Italdesign is looking for an accurate, analytical, and enthusiastic engineer, who will be employed in the Exteriors Numerical Simulation area, part of the Exteriors Development department of the Italian site of Italdesign. S/He will be responsible to reach the occupant safety targets in the assigned field of development.
Responsibilities
- Perform Occupant Safety CAE analysis to support the understanding of physical phenomena and contribute proactively to the search for technical solutions;
- Create the virtual model of the project car including all the restraint systems (Safety Belts, Airbags,…)
- Analyze and evaluate the biomechanical results of the calculations/simulations envisaged by the project and propose technical solutions;
- Creation of the virtual model, including the proper choice of modeling methodology.
- Outcome management: critical evaluation of the observed phenomenon, verification of the target achievement and communication of the results.
- Processing: management of the simulation process with the use of dedicated solvers and specific tools.
- Post-Processing Results Analysis: analysis of simulation results with the use of dedicated post-processors and specific tools.
- Sharing of proposals/technical countermeasures to improve the performance with the Team Leader and/or Project Leader
Key requirements
- 3-5 years of previous experience in CAE Occupant Safety Simulations; previous experience in structural simulation is also welcome.
- Excellent ability to use software/tools for the construction of finite element models (Ansa recommended, Hypermesh);
- Previous experience in the use of computing cluster operating systems for processing activities;
- Previous experience in the use of modelling techniques and of at least 2 reference CAE software (PAM-Crash, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Radioss) and specific assembly tools (LoCo, etc.);
- Knowledge of assembly technologies, materials technologies and Techniques as well as of component production;
- Deep Knowledge of international regulations, test standards (EuroNCAP, FMVSS, etc.), characteristics of the biomechanical target/performance; experience in developing a robust trade-off, balancing the different loadcases and restraint systems specs.
- Technical evaluation of different solutions and drafting of technical documentation;
- Knowledge of legislative/homologation constraints;
- Knowledge of the MS Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.), CAD viewers;
- Basic knowledge of computer language for script (Pearl, Python, TCL/TK).

Education Biomedical Engineering preferred;
Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken Italian and English (Level C1) are required.
