Job ID: | Amazon Data Services, Inc. Join our dynamic team as a Data Center Engineering Technician – a critical guardian of Amazon’s mission‑critical technology infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and fire/safety equipment in AWS data centers to achieve a 99.999 % uptime for our global digital services. Key Job ResponsibilitiesDaily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability. Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS). Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA). Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA. Conduct preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment. Write technical documentation to support change management programs. Manage daily work requests to resolution and execute projects from conception to completion. Provide on‑site support of contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation. Adapt to shift schedules of up to 12 hours, rotating on predefined schedules or on‑call rotations as required by site needs. Support multiple locations or sites as assigned.Physical RequirementsWillingness to lift or move up to 39 lb. independently and participate in group lifts of 40 lb. or more. Maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder. Engage in frequent walking, use of hands and fingers, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, and working above shoulders. Carry, push, pull objects into position as needed. Work in an environment requiring ear protection.Essential RequirementsAbility to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed. Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training or until the assigned facility is fully operational. Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status.A day in the life As the on‑site front line, you will report directly to the Data Center Facility Manager and conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on mission‑critical equipment such as diesel generators, UPS units, PDUs, batteries, CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors. You will also support fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment, ensuring all work complies with safety and local regulations. Basic Qualifications2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications. 2+ years of electrical and mechanical engineering or support experience. Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a data center or other mission‑critical facility such as a hospital, military site, or public safety facility. Associate or higher education in a related field.
