Position Summary The Research Center Director is responsible for the oversight and direction of the facilities in Novara and Galliera. In this role the director is responsible for the people that work there, the HS&O responsibilities of the sites, all financial, operational efficiency and safety aspects. The director will ensure the company is at the forefront of research & development, is maintained as a center of excellence, and strives to continually improve products and services.Location NovaraReports to Global Head of R&DJob StatusFull-TimeOn-siteRole ResponsibilitiesLead and guide all staff in the R&D facilities (Novara research center & Galliera field station), ensuring they carry out their responsibilities effectively and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.Act as the employer for the sites, ensuring HS&O obligations are met and being accountable for overall site safety.Drive an environment within the sites that promotes the Gowan culture, fosters collaboration and innovative thinking, and inspires all who work there.Promote collaboration within the site and across the wider organization with key stakeholders, encouraging internal networking and information sharing.Take responsibility for the creation, monitoring and reporting of site budgets, ensuring alignment with management and accuracy in planning and execution.Drive efficiency, planning and execution across site activities, seek continual improvement, and collaborate with organizational leadership.Propose and develop processes and process improvements across the site, guiding others to take responsibility in their respective areas.Contribute to the development and evolution of the company’s R&D strategy.Develop and maintain contacts with relevant organizations in the industry, both internally and externally, for the exchange of ideas and information.Identify effective communication and sharing strategies for the site’s strengths and abilities across the organization, external partners, and customers.EducationBachelor's degree, master’s degree, or PhD in a scientific, research or related field.Experience / Skills / AbilitiesAt least 10 years of management experience, including experience managing a research facility and associated teams.A thorough understanding of the R&D environment.Deep experience in research and management within the chemical or agricultural industry, with knowledge of industry challenges and future trends.Financial analysis skills and experience managing budgets for large departments.Experience working in a global, multicultural business environment.Excellent influence, communication, and assertiveness skills.Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and teams.Proven ability to manage diverse and large teams.Job Expectations / Working ConditionsTravel up to 20% of time.Office based full time in Novara, Italy.Seniority levelDirectorEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionResearch, Analyst, and Information TechnologyChemical Manufacturing#J-18808-Ljbffr
