As an SDE, you will have immense opportunity to explore how to model things, determine the right abstraction level, and make judgment calls around multiple design trade‑offs that influence a multi‑billion‑dollar business. As an SDE on the RBS team, you will work with talented peers of SDEs and applied scientists to build robust engineering platforms that solve high‑impact issues and constantly stretch the boundaries of innovation to tackle business challenges.Key Job Responsibilities We are looking for a sharp, experienced Software Developer with a diverse skill set and background. As an SDE‑2, your work is consistently of high quality. You will:Solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.Invent, design, and build software that is stable and performant.Use a broad range of design approaches and apply them judiciously.Limit the use of short‑term workarounds and avoid over‑engineering.Make appropriate trade‑offs, reuse where possible, and introduce dependencies only when necessary.Manage resource usage efficiently (e.g., system hardware, database, memory/CPU).Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and peers on project ideas.Participate actively in code review, design discussions, team planning, and ticket/metric reviews.Focus on operational excellence, constructively identifying problems and proposing solutions.Enhance team software and processes through new projects and improvements.Train new teammates on how your team’s software is constructed, operates, is secured, and fits into the bigger picture.Basic Qualifications3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for new and existing systems.Experience programming with at least one software programming language.Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
