OverviewPrincipal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager, Strategic Planning – Rome, Italy. Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager, Strategic Planning. Position description includes leading material handling system implementations, driving standardization, and collaborating across engineering, operations, and external partners to scale Amazon’s in-house material handling capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesDrive the execution strategy for material handling system implementations in partnership with WWDE, Operations Engineering, and strategic suppliers.Serve as the single-threaded leader between engineering teams, operations, and implementation partners.Lead cross-functional communications and strategic planning for material handling system deployment, determine KPIs, and drive standardization initiatives.Assist in the development of the Project Lifecycle Framework and implementation playbooks.Build relationships with Amazon development and operations teams and with senior leaders.Drive technical integration strategy and execution for complex material handling systems.Lead end-to-end system implementation programs spanning mechanical engineering, controls integration, power systems, and operational requirements of specific project types (ARS, SSD, AMZL, IXD).Customize and execute standardized technical deployment methodologies and integration playbooks to enable implementation of Amazon-spec material handling equipment.Execute complex material handling projects through all lifecycle phases while ensuring technical requirements, performance standards, and operational metrics are met.Coordinate between specialized engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls) and maintain ownership for system integration approaches.Drive continuous improvement in technical integration methods, system performance standards, and commissioning procedures.Manage technical partnerships with OEMs and 3P engineering firms to ensure optimal system design and integration.Leverage technical knowledge management systems and engineering documentation standards for material handling implementations.Maintain alignment between engineering teams, operations stakeholders, and external partners on technical requirements and system specifications.Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks in system design, integration approach, and operational implementation.Define technical standards and best practices for material handling system implementations for specific projects.A Day in the LifeCollaborate with cross-functional teams to execute material handling system implementations while establishing standardized processes for future deployments. Develop and deliver project execution strategies and detailed plans to drive implementation from initiation through commissioning, ensuring program success across multiple simultaneous projects. Interface with strategic partners to ensure successful integration of Amazon-spec equipment.Basic Qualifications10+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience.Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 15+ years experience, preferably in design, specification, project management and execution of large-scale complex material handling systems, or domain expertise in industrial, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering; industrial or construction management.Experience providing technical leadership on high-impact cross-functional technical projects.Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Engineering or related technical field.Experience with material handling equipment integration and systems.Experience with conveyor control systems and automation.Experience with cross-belt sorters and complex material handling systems.Experience working with material handling OEMs and integration partners.Track record of establishing standardized processes and playbooks.Experience scaling technical project delivery organizations.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
