Chief Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations

Chief Engineer, Data Center Engineering Operations Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks an experienced engineer to lead the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global data center infrastructure. You will collaborate with software, hardware, network, supply chain, and security teams to deliver the highest safety, reliability and capacity standards at the lowest cost. Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the primary escalation point for all facility‑related issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, cooling towers, and building monitoring systems. Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures troubleshoot facility equipment within internal SLA. Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and develop new standard practices for the team. Assist in the build‑out of new facilities and project‑manage initiatives to improve current facility efficiency. Communicate complex technical information to non‑technical audiences and coordinate projects with IT managers, business leaders, and vendor teams. Ensure adherence to safety procedures, establish building performance benchmarks, and prepare detailed reports on critical facility operations.Basic Qualifications3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience in a data center or mission‑critical facilities. 3+ years of data center or mission‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military, public safety). Technical training or degree in a relevant field (electrical, mechanical).Preferred Qualifications4+ years of data center engineering experience. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related discipline.
