We were meant to fly.Job DescriptionWith this spirit we are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer required to work on Design/Certification and production support activities within the Engineering organization with a main focus on engine components (e.g. Heat exchanger Structures) designed using Additive technology (e.g. DMLM). The successful Engineer will be working within the Military Design Engineering section dedicated to Additive Design, taking end‑to‑end design responsibility of the component by coordinating all activities aimed to test/verify the design intent of the component as well as its certification and entry into service. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop a vast network across Avio Aero as well as GE Aviation, across several disciplines. You will be working with internal/external suppliers/functions (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, NDT specialists, Program) to make sure the produced part is always aligned to the design intent and to certification requirements.Essential responsibilitiesCapture system requirements flow‑down to component definition identifying relevant validation needsIssue technical documents relative to the component’s design according to engineering policies and procedures (drawings, presentations, and analysis reports)Contribute and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviewsDevelop components and modules design to cost, performance, and life objectivesProactively support and coordinate activities with manufacturing departments and suppliers to implement product improvements (e.g., concurrent design cost‑out activities)Support source technological substantiation and non‑conformances assessmentSupport activities related to development findings, component performance, and investigations (test requests, test data post‑process, laboratory investigation)Qualifications/RequirementsMasters Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited universityKnowledge of designing additive components preferably using DMLM technologyExperience with CAD tools (e.g., Unigraphics NX) and CAE tools (e.g., Nastran, Ansys)Fundamental understanding of mechanical design (static strength of materials, dynamics, etc.) and of fluid mechanics and heat
