As a Transportation Associate you will: Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations. You will follow and enforce safety measures and policies to all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members. Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain workflow for buildings. Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in the yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations. Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies and procedures of those DOT regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.). Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered. Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks at appropriate times in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather/road conditions. Support the business on an as-needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area. Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.). What else does the team have to offer? If Associate is requested to become CDL and DQF certified to drive Over-the-Road for Amazon, this position becomes regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and follows regulations issued by the DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license for the state in which they reside and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirements. For Department of Labor / Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration roles (roles for which you receive a CDL), English proficiency is required per federal regulation. The timing of this requirement is dependent on business need. Continuing in the position with CDL and DQF certification is contingent upon the successful completion of a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening, a DOT physical and Amazon’s pre-employment drug test.
