Job Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled system architect to join our team and play a critical role in defining the end‑to‑end system architecture of our next generation European LEO satellite communications system (IRIS²). In this position, you’ll work closely with internal engineers, architects, product and business development managers, and external suppliers leading the development of system components. You will write technical requirements, perform system trade studies, define the concept of operations, and maintain the technical baseline, including all interface definitions. You will also work closely with the program and the Integration & Test team to ensure that the system is developed and is fit for purpose. Who You Are System engineer who has architected and followed the deployment and refinement of at least one large multi‑user, bi‑directional wireless communications system (not necessarily satellite‑based). Experience working with or for comms system component suppliers, leading design reviews from either the supplier or customer side. Deep understanding and experience in system development, integration, verification, and validation processes. Possess 5‑10 years of industry work experience. What You’ll Do Participate in the definition of the end‑to‑end system Architecture and prepare the associated documentation: Design Definition File and Design Justification File. Perform system trade‑offs, especially those related to physical‑layer design (e.g., air‑interface trade‑offs, time management, and inter‑segment trade‑offs). Define and implement processes for making and tracking key architectural decisions and changes using selected tools. Collaborate with the engineering tools manager to develop the functional architecture model and coordinate related activities within the architecture team. Collaborate with the interface manager to ensure overall model consistency. Work with payload, UT and GW teams on the main physical‑layer related trade‑offs and take relevant decisions. Define ConOps to clarify system functional flows. Contribute to system requirements writing for the topics you are in charge of. What You’ll Need Strong background in integrating all system segments: Payload, Mission Segment, Core Network, RAN, User Terminal, BSS, OSS. Background in adapting communications systems for satellite deployments. Understanding of security/integrity protection for User Data and control/management systems. Knowledge of NTN features is appreciated. Experience with systems engineering software tools for requirements management and model‑based systems engineering. Where You’ll Work Ideally based in one of the Eutelsat Group headquarter offices within the EU: Paris, France or Torino, Italy. Flexible in‑office and remote work arrangements.
