The Operations Team Leader is responsible for effectively managing production and packaging operators within the shift and developing collaborative partnerships with colleagues. Delivering the agreed to business and plant results while maintaining positive employee relations. The primary accountabilities of the role include daily production schedule adherence, quality, EHS, logistics, production financial performance, labor relations , people and team development. The Operations Team Leader has to be an effective and valuable member of the production team, to ensure delivery of plant business results. The Operations Team Leader works within a structure that requires considerable interaction with his reports as well as with the other functions. Guides and empowers teams in the implementation of the plant strategy and FP&R initiative.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage daily production and packaging operations to meet business and plant results.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety), logistics, and financial performance.
- Develop and empower teams through training, coaching, and delegation.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., FP&R programs).
- Manage absenteeism and performance issues in collaboration with HR.
- Oversee compliance with staffing, scheduling, and training policies.
- Identify and implement cost reduction and margin improvement programs.
- Communicate and execute local supply chain strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company, local, and governmental EHS, Quality, and Regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Engineer degree or similar field degree
- Experience: 2-5 years in production
- Key Competencies:
- Managing production, materials, and services
- Continuous improvement / Lean Manufacturing
- EHS and quality management
- Supply chain systems and analysis
- Business and financial understanding
