The Business Unit Head will be responsible and accountable for the strategy, planning and implementation of all commercial activities within Italy, with ‘success’ defined by growing our current business, through current indications, while preparing for further launches, to continue to grow our positive impact for patients fighting with cancer. The Business Unit Head will manage a team of Marketing and Sales professionals and lead a cross‑functional team to drive operational excellence. The Business Unit Head will be a member of Gileadlocal leadership team.Responsibilities:Lead the Oncology cross‑functional team providing vision, motivation, support and coaching to drive the business and achieve the commercial & the overarching Therapeutical area objectivesDrive development and execution of commercial strategy and action plans for the continued growth of our portfolioLead & ensure well‑functioning, successful marketing & sales team, connected with its peers across countries and globalDrive Operational Excellence in marketing & sales efforts and business/forecast planningDevelop, implement, and maintain the required infrastructure to meet business goalsAchieve the best‑in‑class performance, leading the cross‑functional teamEstablish effective working relationships with opinion leaders and other key stakeholders & be recognised as partner in improving quality of carePartner successfully with Medical Affairs, to ensure effective development and implementation of strategies that can affirm Gilead as a scientific partner to the Italian ecosystemPartner with Government Affairs and Public Affairs to ensure a positive policy environment, that values innovationSupport Market Access activities for all impending launches, and to maximize current portfolio impactCreate an environment in which every member of the team has an opportunity to succeed, regardless of their tenure or standing within the organizationParticipate actively in the LT and contribute to a high performance team to drive business forward, and shape a forward‑looking, successful organizationRepresent the leadership team of Gilead internally and externallyRepresent the cross‑functional vision in global and regional forumsRole model Leadership Essentials and support strong Gilead culture and Core ValuesRequired Knowledge, Experience & Skills: The successful candidate will be a recognized leader with excellent communication skills. The role requires being comfortable at working in a high‑growth environment where influencing and negotiating across an organization are a prerequisite. You will need to demonstrate the ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and paradoxes through thinking outside of the box with a collaborative, constructive and solution‑oriented approach.Undergraduate degree is required, MBA and/or post–graduate preferred or advanced life‑science degree (MD, Pharm D, PhD)Demonstrable commercial leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry such as a highly successful Business Unit Lead and a strong sales & marketing leader within the specialty therapeutics areaShould have recent experience in oncology, preferably in solid tumors/ breast cancer and successful track record of LaunchesMust be a pragmatic individual who enjoys getting involved in the business at all levels and across all disciplines. Broad‑based cross‑functional experience is important.Must have a track record of successful P&L management with an understanding of revenue forecasting and expense budget planning, optimization and trackingMust demonstrate excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/prioritiesMust be good at building new relationships rapidly with KOLs and other stakeholders such as industry associations. An already established Italian network is preferable.Must have the ability to drive a business, whilst possessing innate ‘market‑making’ capabilities with natural self‑starter, hands‑on, entrepreneurial and innovative attitude.Strong leadership qualities such as having the ability to attract, motivate and retain talent and drive a culture of collaboration, engagement and motivation.Previous experience in Field Force Re/Organization is preferredExcellent Knowledge of written and spoken EnglishAbility to understand and speak in Italian- or the ability to learn in a reasonable timing- is a strong preferenceAbility to provide strategic input at a Global levelInternational experience, either working in a Global or Regional role or in the context of above country project teams is a strong assetOpenness to travel domestically and some internationally when safe to do soEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO)It is the policy of Gilead Sciences, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively "Gilead" or the "Company") to recruit select and employ the most qualified persons available for positions throughout the Company.
