Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health and SafetyAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting every data center and the complex network of servers, storage, power, and cooling equipment that keeps the cloud running. As a safety professional, you will help maintain the highest standards for safety and security across these facilities while ensuring efficiency and compliance.You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. The culture values bold ideas, inclusive collaboration, and ownership of projects from inception to completion.This role is for an experienced EHS Manager, Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer. It will support safety operations in Melbourne, Australia and may extend to other states or countries as needed. The incumbent will communicate clear safety guidance, train staff, collaborate with internal and external partners, and lead projects to enhance operational safety and construction compliance.Key Job ResponsibilitiesImplement safety standards, policies and practices, including safety management systems, training, and risk assessments.Collaborate with Facilities Managers, Human Resources, Operations, and external vendors (General Contractors, sub‑contractors, Emergency Services) to ensure safety during operations and construction.Ensure compliance with global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events, and unique safety situations.Conduct safety data analysis and create benchmarking.Maintain accurate safety recordkeeping and provide reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.Consult with legal on safety regulations, interpretations, and investigations.Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.Adapt to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent.Five or more years of field experience with a proven record of safety.Preferred QualificationsSafety experience in construction, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar industry, including management of full‑time employees and third‑party contractors.Considerable knowledge of local safety and health regulatory law and practices of investigations and workplace safety, including experience dealing with local regulators.Acknowledgement of CountryIn the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
